Week 10 — A Little More Room to Relax
The ship now has upgrades for sofas, dining tables, and bunk beds, giving the captain more ways to prepare for hungry, tired, and uncomfortable passengers.
What changed
- More places to settle in. You can now unlock an extra sofa, dining table, and bunk bed. That means more room for passengers to eat, rest, and recover during a busy trip.
- Better furniture, happier needs. Sofa upgrades restore comfort faster, upgraded dining tables improve hunger recovery from meals, and upgraded bunks help passengers recover sleep faster. Each furniture upgrade also increases its maximum condition by half.
- More choices for your earnings. Furniture improvements cost 12 credits each, while an extra facility costs 20. Both require three likes to unlock access. The kitchen upgrade now requires one like, giving the challenge rewards a more direct role in preparing the ship.
- Expansion brings upkeep. Maintenance service prices now account for the extra facilities you activate. Another sofa gives passengers somewhere else to relax, but it also adds to the bill when you pay to fix all sofas.
- An easier shopping screen. The upgrade menu now scrolls properly, with more room for names and descriptions and styled scrollbars. The ship’s outer hull also gained transparency.
Behind the scenes
I spent Brazil’s September 7th holiday with my family, and my aunt—who used to work in brand design—helped me design a logo for Space Liner 77 in Inkscape!
It was a lovely opportunity to bring a little family collaboration into the game. After last week’s first main menu, the new logo gives the title screen its own identity. So now we have both a logo AND a title screen. Yay! 🚀✨🦥
Next week
- Playtest the new upgrade costs and like requirements across several trips.
- Check how extra facilities affect passenger needs and the captain’s maintenance workload.
- Let passengers traveling alone chat with the captain to satisfy their social need. Without anyone to talk to, solo trips can get quite lonely!
- Make conversations feel more natural.
